HERE ARE THE DETAILS POSTED BY LAURA VIA THE JiscMail list on Jan 19th 2016:
ANTF Symposium is March 21-22, 2016 Burlington Macdonald Hotel, Birmingham.
The overall theme for this year’s Symposium is Play, with Day 1 being about Serious Play exclusively with NTFs and Day 2 is on Playful Learning and this day is open to other people from across the sector.
If you are an NTF please register here:
If you are not an NTF but wish to register for day two, please register here:
The CANTF committee would like to invite you to save the date and begin making your travel plans so you can attend this year’s Symposium. The official bookings will be taken by the HEA and we hope that link will be live soon, but in the meantime I can give you information about the event – what’s included in the price, how you can be involved, and a bit about the programme.
NTFs pay £90 which covers the two days, lunch, and refreshments. The ANTF is subsidising the cost of the conference dinner on the evening of Day 1 for NTFs.
Non NTFs who register for Day 2 pay £60 for the one day.
The Symposium begins with Registration from 9:00 am and the programme begins at 9:30 am. On Day 1 there will be a drinks reception (and a chance to showcase NTF’s recent publications) and the Symposium dinner will be held in the venue.
Day 2 programme begins at 9:30 am and ends at 4:30 pm
HOW CAN YOU BE INVOLVED?
NTFs are invited to contribute in several ways:
- Everyone who attends is asked to make a poster/display that encapsulates ‘Who I am and what I do’ to bring for a ‘Swap Shop’ session on Day 2 where we network with one another and with those non-NTFs in attendance.
- Inputs are invited. You are invited to submit a proposal for a 12 minute Input. This could be a traditional spoken presentation, but it does not have to be… Your Input is what you do in the 12 minutes and you are encouraged to be as creative and inclusive as you like. The brief for submissions is that Inputs have some scholarly, pedagogical, or practical application that others could take inspiration to act upon in their practice. Your Input should also include an Output. The Output from the 12 minutes might be a traditional paper, or it could be a blog post, leaflet, short film/video or hand out. We suggest you strongly consider making your Output available under Creative Commons License Abstracts will be published on the ANTF blog.
- Workshop proposals. 45 minute workshop sessions aligned with the theme of either serious play or playful learning are invited
Submission for 12 minute session or 45 minute workshop deadline: Monday, February 8th
Please email Laura Ritchie l ‘dot’ ritchie ‘at’ chi.ac.uk or check the recent JiscMail message for details.
Proposals from those who have not previously presented at a Symposium will be given first consideration, to allow a showcase of as many different NTFs as possible. With the Swap Shop session, there should be a platform for everyone to share their expertise during the two days.
KEYNOTES AND DETAILS
The exact schedule of sessions and keynotes are yet to be confirmed. Please do spread the word to other NTFs and to your non-NTF colleagues. Especially with the TEF coming, this is an opportunity to showcase what NTFs are and do.

A discounted rate of £85 has been confirmed by the Macdonald Burlington Hotel for a double room for the first 20 delegates.See Laura’s email message dated 21st Jan 2016 to retrieve the discount code.
